The Producer Price Index in Sri Lanka decreased by 0.5% year-on-year in July 2025, contrasting with a 0.2% rise recorded in the preceding month. This downturn was chiefly attributed to substantial declines in the agriculture sector, which saw a drop of 3.4% compared to an 8.0% increase in June, and a continued fall in utility prices at -29.3% from -27.1%. Meanwhile, there was an accelerated growth in manufacturing prices, increasing by 1.0% compared to the previous 0.2%. Additionally, on a month-to-month comparison, producer prices decreased by 0.5% in July, shifting from a 0.6% rise in June.
