In August 2025, North Macedonia's annual inflation rate declined to 4.4%, down from 4.8% in the previous month, registering the lowest rate in the past three months. This deceleration was primarily attributed to a decrease in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which dropped to 6.2% from 6.8% in July, and in housing and utilities, which fell to 1.2% from 1.8%. Furthermore, inflation rates eased across several categories: transport declined to 3.6% from 4.6%, footwear to 3.3% from 3.6%, recreation and culture to 5.8% from 6.6%, healthcare to 2% from 3%, and communications to 0.6% from 1.1%. Conversely, there was an uptick in inflation for furniture, household goods, and regular household maintenance, rising to 5.3% from 5.1%; for restaurants and hotels, which increased to 4.4% from 2.9%; and for miscellaneous goods and services, climbing to 4.1% from 3.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices saw a modest rise of 0.2%, a significant slowdown from the 1.1% increase recorded in July.
