In August 2025, the annual inflation rate in Denmark decreased to 2%, falling from a nearly two-year peak of 2.3% in July. This deceleration was attributed to a slower rise in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which grew by 5.8%, down from 6.5% in the previous month. There was also a notable slowdown in the price increases for housing and utilities (1.3% versus 2.4%), recreation and culture (2.6% versus 4.2%), and communication (3.2% versus 3.8%). However, prices continued to show an upward trend for miscellaneous goods and services, going up by 2.7% from 2.6%, furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance rising by 1.6% from 1%, clothing and footwear climbing to 0.7% from 0.1%, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco increasing to 1% from 0.6%. Additionally, transport costs rebounded to 0.6% from a decline of 1.1%. On a monthly comparison, consumer prices decreased by 0.7%, marking the first decline in five months, after a significant 1.5% increase in the preceding month. Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, saw a slight rise to 2.3% in August, reaching its highest level since January 2024, compared to 2.2% in July.
