In September 2025, Cyprus experienced a 0.70% year-on-year decline in consumer prices, a slight moderation from the 0.90% decrease seen in the previous month, continuing a five-month streak of deflation. The rate at which transportation costs decreased slowed (-0.97% compared to -3.05%), as did the declines in housing and utilities (-2.29% versus -2.34%) and clothing and footwear (-7.25% versus -7.70%). Meanwhile, there was an accelerated increase in communication prices (0.55% up from 0.48%). Conversely, the growth in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.11% from 0.27%), recreation and culture (3.31% versus 3.90%), restaurants and hotels (4.41% versus 4.54%), education (3.40% compared to 3.89%), health (1.39% down from 1.71%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.00% from 1.04%) all slowed. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.6% in September 2025, compared to a 0.3% increase in the previous period.
