In October 2025, Germany experienced a 1.2% decrease in imports from the previous month, totaling €114.5 billion, contrary to market forecasts of a 0.2% increase. This also overturned the 3.1% growth observed in September. This marked the sixth monthly decline in 2025, primarily attributed to a significant 5.4% reduction in imports from non-EU countries. Noteworthy declines were recorded from the United States (-16.6%), China (-5.2%), the United Kingdom (-14.5%), and Russia (-10.6%). Conversely, imports from EU nations saw a 2.8% rise, driven by increasing procurements from Eurozone nations (up 3.9%) and those outside the Eurozone (up 0.7%). Despite the recent fluctuations, Germany's total imports for the first ten months of 2025 grew by 4.6% year-on-year, reaching €1.14 trillion, indicating a steady recovery in trade activities.
