Construction output in the Czech Republic increased by 4.1% year-on-year in February 2026, rebounding from a 1.5% decline in January. The recovery was driven primarily by building construction, which rose 7.8% after a 2% drop in the previous month, while civil engineering output fell 5.5%, reversing a modest 0.2% gain.
During the month, 4,676 building permits were issued, up 6.6% from a year earlier, and the floor area of new projects expanded by 20.1%. Housing activity strengthened as well: the number of dwellings started climbed 45.9% year-on-year to 3,923, and completed dwellings increased 20.8% to 3,222. The rise in both housing starts and completions was driven mainly by multi-dwelling buildings.
On a month-on-month basis, overall construction activity grew 0.8% in February, recovering from a 0.8% decline in the prior period.
