Montenegro’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.1% in March 2026, up from 2.6% in February. Price growth strengthened notably in several categories, including furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (4.0% vs 2.5% in February), recreation and culture (2.5% vs 1.7%), information and communication (0.4% vs 0.3%), and insurance and financial services (2.9% vs 2.7%).

At the same time, prices rebounded in transport (4.4% vs -1.2%) and clothing and footwear (0.3% vs -0.6%), shifting from declines to increases. By contrast, inflation eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.8% vs 2.9%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.7% vs 4.9%), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.7% vs 4.1%), health (5.4% vs 8.8%), and restaurants and hotels (4.3% vs 5.4%). Inflation remained unchanged for miscellaneous goods and services, at 2.8%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8% in March, up from 0.2% in the previous month. The annual harmonized inflation rate also picked up, reaching 2.9% after holding at 2.6% for the previous two months.
