Visitor arrivals to New Zealand rose 15.1% year-on-year to 358,900 in March 2026, easing slightly from the 15.2% increase recorded in February. The largest gains came from Australia, with arrivals up by 24,100, followed by China (up 4,200), the United States (up 4,100), the United Kingdom (up 3,500), Hong Kong (up 1,600), Canada (up 1,600), and India (up 1,500). Overall, total overseas visitor arrivals recovered to 95% of pre-pandemic levels, compared with 738,300 in March 2019. Australians remained the largest source market, accounting for 39% of total visitors, followed by the United States (15%), China (7%), and the United Kingdom (6%), underscoring the ongoing rebound in international tourism demand.
