The Kansas City Fed’s Manufacturing Production Index rose to 19 in June 2026 from 9 in May, its highest level since April 2022. Growth was broad-based across manufacturing, with durable goods expansion led by transportation equipment and nondurable goods supported primarily by food production.
Most month-over-month indicators were positive, with the exception of inventories. The new orders index held steady at 13, while the shipments index jumped to 20 from 7, and the employment index rebounded to 10 from -4. New export orders also improved, moving up to 0 from -3.
At the same time, price pressures strengthened. The index for prices paid for raw materials increased to 68 from 63, and the index for prices received for finished products rose to 33 from 29.
