Slovenia’s retail sales increased by 2.1% year-on-year in June 2026, easing slightly from an upwardly revised 2.2% rise in May and marking the weakest annual growth since February. The deceleration was mainly linked to a 1.8% increase in retail sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores. Meanwhile, food sales were up 1.6%, and non-food retail sales rose 1.5%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, total retail sales declined by 0.2% in June, reversing an upwardly revised 0.1% gain in May.
Over the first half of 2026, retail turnover was 1.9% higher than in the same period a year earlier, supported by a 6.4% surge in motor fuel sales and a 2.5% increase in non-food retail sales. In contrast, food retail sales fell by 0.9%, highlighting ongoing weakness in consumer demand for food products.
