Looking ahead, markets are also focused on this week’s Jackson Hole symposium for fresh indications on the future path of interest rates. Among the index’s weakest performers were Volkswagen (-1.7%), Siemens Energy (-1.2%) and SAP (-1%), while Brenntag (1.1%), BASF (0.9%) and Beiersdorf (0.7%) led the gains.
