India’s broad money supply (M3) growth accelerated to 16.7%, up from the previous reading of 14.2%, according to the latest data updated on 11 September 2026. The pickup in M3 indicates a notable expansion in liquidity within the Indian financial system.
The increase in M3, which typically includes currency in circulation, demand deposits and time deposits, suggests stronger monetary expansion compared with the prior period. This faster pace of growth may reflect higher banking sector deposits, increased credit creation, or other liquidity-boosting factors in the economy.
While the data point does not, on its own, determine the policy direction, the sharper rise in money supply will likely be monitored closely by market participants and policymakers for its potential implications on inflation, interest rates, and overall financial conditions in India.
