US equity futures rose on Friday, snapping a four-session losing streak as the recent surge in oil prices and Treasury yields stalled, even amid persistent signs of elevated inflation. Futures on the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Nasdaq 100 were all up about 0.7%.
Longer-dated Treasury yields pulled back from multi-year highs as fuel prices paused after this week’s sharp gains, which had been driven by escalating tensions and strikes between the US and Iran in the Persian Gulf. The run-up in energy costs since the start of the month has intensified concerns over an already high inflation backdrop. Headline inflation for August held at 3.4%, reinforcing expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates on Wednesday.
Credit-sensitive sectors, including heavily indebted AI hyperscalers and banks, remained lower on the week despite modest premarket gains. In contrast, Oracle jumped 5.5% after reporting a strong increase in cloud infrastructure revenue.
