Thursday, the Central Statistical Office of Mauritius announced that the consumer price index, or CPI rose 9.7% in 2008, larger than the 8.8% recorded in the previous year.
The CPI grew 15.5% year-over-year in December, slower than the 16.5% recorded in the previous month. A year ago, the CPI was up 8.2%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined 0.9% in December.
