During European trading on Thursday, the Japanese yen edged down sharply against major opponents.

The yen is presently trading near fresh multi-day lows of 101.34 against the euro, 78.45 versus the US dollar and 125.80 against the British pound, compared to Wednesday's North American session close of 100.69, 78.20 and 125.18, respectively.

The Japanese unit also traded further lower against other major rivals and as of now worth 80.12 against the loonie, 83.83 versus the franc, 80.64 against the Aussie and 64.20 versus the kiwi.
