The Canadian currency ticked up sharply against major opponents by about 11:30 am ET on Thursday. At present, the loonie is trading at fresh multi-day high of 75.41 versus the yen, 0.8357 versus the Aussie, 1.1936 against the US dollar and 1.7066 versus the euro.

Traders weighted latest economic reports by the Statistics Canada showing that the retail sales fell 0.9 percent in October and the leading indicators data dropped to 0.7 percent in November.

The Statistics Canada also reported that Canada's composite leading index fell by 0.7% in November, its third straight retreat and the largest since January 1991.
