Lima's urban area unemployment rate was at 6.9% in the second quarter, below the 7.0% level posted a year earlier, but above the 6.6% rate in the quarter ended in May, according to the national statistics office.
Data showed that 358 thousand people actively sought for work but did not manage to get a job in the second quarter of this year. The jobless rate in the Lima Metropolitan Region is used as a reference by the federal government.
The employed population in the same quarter grew by 1.3% from a year before.
