Reversing direction, the pound slipped against its most major opponents in early European deals on Tuesday.

The pound hit near an 8-year low of 0.9294 against against the euro, off its early high of 0.9247.

The pound fell back to 1.2282 versus the Swiss franc, from its early high of 1.2356. The currency had already set more than a 5-week low of 1.2279 in the Asian session.

The pound retreated to 140.62 against the yen, from its early high of 141.29. This may be compared to a 5-day low of 140.01 set in Asian trading.

The next possible support for the pound is seen around 136.00 against the yen, 1.21 against the franc, 0.94 against the euro and 1.27 against the greenback.
