Finland's unemployment rate increased in March after falling in the previous month, figures from Statistics Finland showed Tuesday.
The jobless rate rose to 8.8 percent in March from 8.6 percent in February. In the corresponding month last year, the rate was 9.6 percent.
The number of unemployed people climbed to 240,000 in March from 233,000 in February. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 260,000.
The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, rose to 24.1 percent in March from 21.1 percent in the previous month.
At the same time, the employment rate came in at 60.1 percent in March versus 59.9 percent in February.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged down to 8.2 percent from 8.3 percent.
