The U.S. consumer price index for July will be issued at 8.30 am ET Friday. The consensus is for increase of 0.2 percent, up from 0.1 percent.
Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major counterparts.
The greenback was worth 110.86 against the yen, 1.2771 against the pound, 1.1460 against the euro and 0.9941 against the franc as of 8:25 am ET.
