Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major rivals. While the greenback rose against the yen, franc and the euro, it held steady against the pound.
The greenback was worth 112.99 against the yen, 0.9694 against the franc, 1.1734 against the euro and 1.3153 against the pound as of 8:55 am ET.
