The Commerce Department will release U.S. retail sales for April at 8:30 am ET Wednesday. Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major counterparts. While the greenback held steady against the yen, it rose against the rest of major rivals.
The greenback was worth 109.31 against the yen, 1.0080 against the franc, 1.1185 against the euro and 1.2875 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
