Australia's trade surplus increased more than expected in May on higher exports, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed on Wednesday.
The trade surplus rose to a seasonally adjusted A$5.74 billion in May from A$4.82 billion in April. Economists had forecast the surplus to rise to A$5.25 billion.
On a monthly basis, exports of goods and services gained 4.0 percent on month to A$41.58 billion.
Compared to the previous month, imports rose to 1.0 percent in May to A$35.83 billion, data showed.
