As expected, the Bank of England maintained its benchmark bank rate at 0.75 percent and the asset purchase plan at GBP 435 billion. The pound fell against its key counterparts after the decision.
The pound was trading at 1.2826 against the greenback, 139.97 against the yen, 1.2720 against the franc and 0.8632 against the euro around 7:01 am ET.
