At 2.00 am ET Thursday, the Office for National Statistics releases UK public sector finance data. The budget balance is forecast to show a deficit of GBP 2 billion in March versus a surplus of GBP 0.4 billion in February.
Ahead of the data, the pound advanced against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 1.2363 against the greenback, 133.25 against the yen, 1.2004 against the franc and 0.8760 against the euro as of 1:55 am ET.
