Analysis of transactions and tips for trading EUR/USD

The test of 1.0737 on Thursday afternoon, coinciding with the significant rise of the MACD line from zero, limited the further upward potential of the pair.

Surprisingly, EUR/USD continued rising although a downward revision could be seen in the Eurozone's 1st quarter GDP data. Poor labor market statistics from the US also led to the pair's growth, as the disappointing figure put pressure on dollar demand.

The pair may remain bullish amid the empty economic calendar today. Direct hints from ECB members Luis de Guindos and Andrea Enria regarding further rate hikes may also bring a positive impact on euro's demand.

For long positions:

Buy when euro hits 1.0800 (green line on the chart) and take profit at the price of 1.0836. Growth could continue as part of the newly formed trend. However, when buying, traders should make sure that the MACD line lies above zero or rises from it. Euro can also be bought after two consecutive price tests of 1.0774, but the MACD line should be in the oversold area as only by that will the market reverse to 1.0800 and 1.0836.

For short positions:

Sell when euro reaches 1.0774 (red line on the chart) and take profit at the price of 1.0743. Pressure may return amid inactivity at the weekly highs. However, when selling, traders should make sure that the MACD line lies below zero or drops down from it. Euro can also be sold after two consecutive price tests of 1.0800, but the MACD line should be in the overbought area as only by that will the market reverse to 1.0774 and 1.0743.
