The Australian Bureau of Statistics said private capital expenditure in Australia rose 0.8 percent A$28.275 billion quarterly in the second quarter of the year.
That was up from the previous quarter's 0.3 percent rise, and also surpassed the 0.2 percent gain expected by economists.
Capex fell an annual 3.0 percent.
