In August 2025, Taiwan experienced a 34.1% year-on-year increase in exports, reaching USD 58.49 billion. This growth represents a deceleration from the previous month's 42.0% rise, yet it still surpassed market expectations of a 22.3% increase. The robust expansion was largely attributed to a notable rise in the export of information, communication, and audio-visual products, which surged by 79.9%, along with a 34.6% increase in electronic parts shipments. Conversely, there was a decline in the exports of base metals and their articles, which dropped by 7.1%, and chemicals, which fell by 4.6%. When segmented by destination, exports to major markets showed strong gains, with shipments to the United States rising by 65.2%, ASEAN nations by 46.7%, China and Hong Kong by 15.9%, Japan by 34.3%, and South Korea by 25.4%. However, exports to Europe saw a decrease of 10.5%. Over the January to August period, Taiwan's total exports amounted to USD 398.43 billion, reflecting a substantial 29.2% increase compared to the same timeframe the previous year, with a remarkable 55.3% boost in shipments to the United States.
