Slovakia’s current account deficit narrowed to EUR 397.9 million in February 2026, down from EUR 564.2 million in the same month a year earlier, marking the smallest monthly shortfall since October 2025. The goods account shifted into a surplus of EUR 41.7 million, compared with a deficit of EUR 136.5 million a year before, while the primary income deficit eased slightly to EUR 334.1 million from EUR 339.9 million.

These improvements were partly offset by weaker results in other components: the services account surplus decreased to EUR 22.2 million from EUR 26.6 million, and the secondary income deficit widened to EUR 127.7 million from EUR 114.4 million.

Over the first two months of the year, the current account deficit narrowed to EUR 1,129.2 million from EUR 1,234.0 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.
