Finland’s current account showed a deficit of EUR 562 million in May 2026, reversing from a surplus of EUR 367 million in the same month a year earlier. The goods account surplus narrowed to EUR 328 million from EUR 678 million, as exports increased by 10% year-on-year to EUR 7.1 billion, while imports rose by 17% to EUR 6.7 billion. At the same time, the services account deficit widened sharply to EUR 838 million from EUR 186 million, and the secondary income deficit increased to EUR 206 million from EUR 176 million. By contrast, the primary income balance recorded a surplus of EUR 154 million, nearly three times the EUR 52 million surplus posted a year earlier.
