Hong Kong’s exports jumped 50.7% year-on-year to a record high of $672.5 billion in July 2026, easing slightly from June’s 53.4% growth. Growth in outbound shipments moderated for several key categories, including electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and related parts (54% vs 57.2% in June); telecommunications, sound recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment (37.2% vs 69.9%); power-generating machinery and equipment (16.7% vs 23.5%); and photographic apparatus, equipment and supplies, optical goods, watches and clocks (8.5% vs 9.4%).
Exports fell sharply for professional, scientific and controlling instruments and apparatus (-10.2% vs +18.1% in June) and for machinery specialized for particular industries (-8.8% vs +4.1%). By contrast, shipments of office machines and automatic data processing machines accelerated markedly, rising 106.5% year-on-year compared with 93.2% in June.
By destination, exports to Asia grew 54.6%, driven largely by robust demand from Mainland China (56.5%). Exports to other major markets also posted strong gains, including the United States (92.9%) and Mexico (48.9%).
