The eurozone’s current account surplus expanded to €36.5 billion in July 2026, up from €29.7 billion a year earlier, largely reflecting stronger performances in both goods and services. The goods surplus increased to €39.8 billion from €31.8 billion, while the services surplus rose to €19.3 billion from €15.1 billion.

These improvements were partly offset by wider deficits in income accounts. The primary income deficit deepened to €4.4 billion from €2.0 billion, and the secondary income deficit widened to €18.1 billion from €15.2 billion.

Over the first seven months of 2026, the current account surplus totalled €151.1 billion, compared with €131.6 billion in the same period of 2025.
