Bulgaria’s current account deficit narrowed to EUR 269.0 million in July 2026, from EUR 303.7 million in July 2025. This improvement occurred despite a larger goods deficit of EUR 853.1 million, compared with EUR 752.4 million a year earlier. The overall balance was supported by a smaller primary income deficit, which declined to EUR 532.0 million from EUR 617.4 million, and by a higher secondary income surplus, which rose to EUR 240.8 million from EUR 149.9 million. At the same time, the services surplus eased to EUR 875.2 million from EUR 916.2 million, bringing the combined goods and services balance to a surplus of EUR 22.2 million, down from EUR 163.8 million. Over the period January–July 2026, the current account posted a deficit of EUR 5,426.8 million, compared with a deficit of EUR 2,470.6 million in the same period of 2025.
