Orders for Taiwanese exports surged 71.4% year-on-year to a new record high of USD 103 billion in August 2026, accelerating from a 61.9% increase in July. Growth was particularly strong in information and communication products (100.5% vs 89.5% in July), basic metals and articles (26.8% vs 24.3%), electronic products (83.9% vs 71.7%), and mineral products (91.6% vs 44.4%).
Meanwhile, export orders for optical, photographic, and cinematographic apparatus fell at a slower pace (-5.0% vs -10.6%). By contrast, growth eased for machinery (28.3% vs 31.3%) and electrical machinery products (14.7% vs 16.7%), while orders for transport equipment slipped slightly (-0.1% vs 6.4%).
Across major export markets, order growth remained robust, led by the United States (88.9%), ASEAN countries (70.5%), Mainland China and Hong Kong (47.7%), Europe (58.2%), and Japan (41.1%).
