Georgia’s annual inflation rate held steady at 5.6% in September 2026, unchanged from August. The overall rate was sustained by faster price increases in several categories: transport (18.7% vs. 15.2% in August), housing and utilities (9.2% vs. 8.5%), health (8.0% vs. 5.2%), and miscellaneous goods and services (9.4% vs. 7.1%). Inflation also picked up for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.2% vs. 5.5%), recreation and culture (2.9% vs. 1.5%), and restaurants and hotels (7.3% vs. 6.8%).
By contrast, price growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased (3.4% vs. 5.0%), and clothing and footwear prices declined (-1.8% vs. 0.6%). Education costs dropped sharply (-12.5% vs. 2.4%), while communication prices continued to fall, though at a slower rate (-2.8% vs. -7.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4% in September, the same pace as in the previous month.
