Slovenia’s unemployment rate inched up to 4.4% in July 2026, compared with 4.3% in June. The number of unemployed rose by 1,102 over the month to 43,257, but was still 542 lower than a year earlier.

By age group, jobseekers aged 55 and over accounted for the largest share of the unemployed (24.2%), followed by those aged 40–49 (23.9%) and 30–39 (21.4%).

The proportion of unemployed people with tertiary education increased to 19.3%, up from 18.5% in the previous month. First-time jobseekers made up 16.6% of the unemployed, down from 17.7% in June.

Long-term unemployment showed a slight improvement. The share of people unemployed for more than one year eased to 37.9% from 38.7%, while the proportion unemployed for over two years declined to 20.9% from 21.6%.
