US stock futures slipped on Thursday as investors weighed fresh earnings from tech heavyweights Tesla and Meta Platforms, and the previous day’s AI-fueled rally lost steam. Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 futures were down 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively, while Dow futures fell 0.3%.
In after-hours trading, Tesla shares declined more than 3% even though the company topped forecasts for both earnings and revenue. Meta, by contrast, gained over 2% after reporting stronger-than-expected third-quarter revenue and issuing an upbeat outlook for the current quarter.
On Wednesday, the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.05%, driven by robust results from SpaceX and Super Micro Computer that helped rekindle optimism about artificial-intelligence demand. Investors are now looking ahead to Thursday’s earnings reports from companies including Procter & Gamble, Western Digital, and Lockheed Martin.
