Lithuania's economic sentiment indicator improved in July from the previous month, the Statistics Lithuania said on Tuesday.

The economic sentiment indicator rose to minus 8 in August from minus 11 in the previous month. A year ago, the confidence indicator was minus 31.

In August, confidence among retailers was also better than a month ago. The corresponding indicator rose to 12 from 8 in July. In industry, the confidence index rose to minus 12 from minus 17. Similarly, the services confidence indicator rose to 9 from 8. On the other hand, the confidence indicator on construction fell to minus 27 from minus 24 in July.

The consumer confidence index rose to minus 25 in August from minus 30 in the previous month. A year ago, the confidence indicator was minus 47. The improved sentiment among households was mainly influenced by more optimistic forecast of the general economic situation.
