The U.S. ADP private sector employment report for July is due at 8:15 am ET Wednesday. Economists expect an addition of 230,000 jobs in July, compared to an increase of 281,000 jobs last month.
Before the data, the greenback advanced against the other major currencies.
The greenback was valued at 102.26 against the yen, 1.6924 against the pound, 1.3398 against the euro and 0.9078 against the franc as of 8:10 am ET.
