The consumer confidence index, compiled by the Conference board, is expected at 10:00 ET Tuesday. The market consensus is at 98.9, down from 101.1 in the previous month.
Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major rivals. While the greenback rose against the euro and the franc, it fell against the yen. Against the pound, it held steady.
The greenback was worth 1.1220 against the euro, 100.38 against the yen, 1.2981 against the pound and 0.9700 against the franc as of 9:55 am ET.
