Taiwan's industrial production increased for the second straight month in June, and at a faster-than-expected pace, preliminary figures from the Ministry of Economic Affairs showed Monday.
Industrial production climbed 3.14 percent year-over-year in June, faster than the 0.85 percent rise in May. That was also above the 1.45 percent gain economist had forecast.
Among sectors, manufacturing production grew 3.6 percent annually in June and mining and quarrying output went up 3.2 percent.
On a monthly basis, industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 2.4 percent from May, when it edged up by 0.2 percent. Without adjustment, industrial production increased 1.49 percent over the month.
