The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) extended the deadline for the Brazilian telecommunications company Oi to file the annual report on Form 20-F for the fiscal year 2016 at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to May 17, 2018.

According to a statement by the company, the ruling avoids non-compliance with NYSE rules. However, the New York Stock Exchange may suspend the trading of Oi's securities before the deadline in the event of any significant adverse events.

"The company is committed to filing the 2016 Annual Report as soon as possible, but the company does not currently have the information it needs to estimate a specific date by which it will file the report," Oi said in the statement.
