Indonesia's exports and imports climbed more than expected in July, data from statistics bureau showed Wednesday.

Exports advanced 19.33 percent year-on-year, much bigger than the expected 11.68 percent increase.

At the same time, imports logged a sharp expansion of 31.56 percent compared to a forecast of 14.2 percent.

Month-on-month, exports advanced 25.19 percent and imports surged 62.17 percent in July.

Consequently, the trade balance showed a shortfall of $2.03 billion in July compared to the expected deficit of $680 million.
