Poland's retail sales growth eased at a faster-than-expected rate in August, figures from Statistics Poland revealed Friday.
Retail sales climbed 6.7 percent year-on-year in August, slower than the 7.1 percent rise in July. The growth was expected to moderate fractionally to 7.0 percent.
Sales of textiles, clothing and footwear showed the biggest growth of 15.9 percent, followed by a 11.6 percent rise in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and orthopaedic equipment sales.
Month-on-month, retail sales advanced 1.2 percent in August, following a 0.2 percent gain in the prior month. That was also above the 1.0 percent increase economists had forecast.
