At 4.30 am ET Friday, UK mortgage approvals data is due from UK Finance. Economists forecast approvals to remain around 41,200 in November.
Ahead of the data, the pound advanced against its major counterparts.
The pound was worth 143.14 against the yen, 1.3065 against the greenback, 1.2764 against the franc and 0.8525 against the euro at 4:25 am ET.
