The British Bankers' Association said the number of house purchases approved in the UK fell to 17,773 in November from 20,767 in the previous month.

Approvals for re-mortgaging in November were almost half what they were in October and the previous six months. Re-mortgaging totaled 29,798 in November, down from 52,452 in the prior month.

Net mortgage lending decreased in November as the annual growth rate slid to 10.3%. Meanwhile, gross lending dropped 4% from October and 38% on a yearly basis.
