Polish producer prices increased more than expected in June.
The producer price index, or PPI, rose 1.9% year-on-year in June, same as in the previous month, the Central Statistical Office said on Monday. Producer prices in May was revised from 1.5% rise reported initially. Economists were looking for an increase of 1.7%.
The price index in manufacturing grew 0.5% annually in June, slowing from 0.7% rise in May. In mining and quarrying, the PPI climbed 15.9%, while price index for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, rose 4.2%. The PPI for water supply,sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased 6.3%.
On a monthly basis, the PPI rose 0.8% in June, slowing from 2% growth in May, which was revised from 1.6% rise reported initially. For the first six months of the year, producer prices decreased 0.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, the price index of construction and assembly production increased 0.2% on an annual basis in June, faster than a flat reading in the previous month. Month-on-monht, the construction output price index rose to 0.2% from 0.1% in May. In the January to June period, the price index fell 0.3% over a year ago.
