Chilean consumer prices rose 2.3% on an annual basis in July, faster than 1.2% rise in the previous month, the National Institute of Statistics said Friday. The price growth was in line with economists' expectations.
Month-on-month, the prices rose 0.6% in July, compared to the flat reading in the previous month. Economists' were looking for an increase of 0.7%. For the first seven months of the year, the cumulative increase in the CPI was 2.4%.
The core consumer price index, that excludes perishables and fuels rose 0.6% on a monthly basis, while economists had forecast a 0.6% increase.
