Extending early morning session upward trading, the US dollar surged up further against major opponents during New York mid-day trading on Monday. At present, the greenback is trading near 1.0496 against the Swiss franc, 1.5919 versus the British pound and 1.3223 against the euro, which may be compared to last Friday's closing values of 1.0379, 1.5958 and 1.3293, respectively.

Against its Japanese counterpart, the greenback also traded higher and hit a high of 85.91 by about 11:55 am ET. The pair closed last week's North American session at 85.46.
