Retail sales values in the U.K. increased 0.5 percent in July 2010 compared to one year earlier, according to the British Retail Consortium.
The BRC also reported Tuesday that overall sales increased 2.6 percent. Total sales were up 3.6 percent.
The BRC noted an increase in food sales, albeit a smaller increase than seen a year ago. Homewares, particularly bit-ticket itmes, were lower.
Non-food non-store sales were up 11.3 percent on year, the weakest growth rate in nearly a year, according to the BRC.
